I have mixed feelings about this book. I really wanted to read it and did, but never felt what I felt when reading the other books. Maybe because The Lily and The Lion was so good, that it was going to be hard to follow-up anyway. Or maybe because Druon changed the entire style and moved it to a first person account of Cardinal Perigord's opinion about the events that transpired after. Or maybe because so many years had passed since the Lily and The lion finish that it is hard to relate to the people and events in the book, and some things are difficult to understand without doing external research. In any case, I never felt exited -only at the beginning- with this book, not compelled to finish it, sometimes I just wanted to drop it but it would have been an insult to the magnificent master pieces that were the six previous books

Maybe Maurice lost his muse after the cataclysm that book VI was, or at this point he was tired. I would give this book only three stars, but in honor of the series and being its closure, I gave it four. Kudos no matter what to Maurice Druon for giving us a set of book for the ages.

Que podría ser Francia en en el concierto de las naciones dios dirá
La forma de narración es algo muy lento y contrasta con los anteriores 6 libros

Muy bueno como toda la serie, pero algo distinto de los otros seis volúmenes. La narrativa no tan dinámica pero excelentemente documentado, como siempre.
Cambio de narración pero buena historia. Es inferior al resto dela zaga. No quoero que me obligien a escribir mas
Narrado en primera persona, algo distinto a los libros anteriores. por eso se hace complicado al inicio de la lectura, pero luego se hace difícil soltarlo.
En este libro, la mayoría de los personajes que nos habían cautivado en los tomos anteriores ya no están. Esta relatado como un monólogo de un cardenal dirigido a su sobrino. Es un interesante retrato de la época, pero esta lejos de igualar a los anteriores.
