Dark Secret was a great book from a great author. All the characters in this book are actually real and I love the fact that the main heroine and hero had to learn to accept their faults and differences and that what they wanted wasn't always what they were going to get and that in itself is real love loving someone with faults and all.

Unlike Feehans prevous novels where the Carpathian males "conforted" their lifemates, the major premise the author conveys throughout the entire book is that Carpathian males are not human, that they have are a different race with a different set of moral societal standards therefore it is impossible to judge them by human standards because they are not human.

In this novel the Carpathia males portrayed were very dark, very dangerous, and very scandalous. Feehan exhibits more closely the torture carpathian males suffer were they are close to converting to vampire. She does a great job conveying their desperate anguish and dilemma and you actually for this first time see why finding a lifemate is so important to the male speicies of the Carpathian race.

Although there some reviews on this book who felt that the hero was a "rapist" I strongly disagree with that assumption. At no time did the hero ever actually force the heroine into forceful sexual relations he does however betray the heroine with a choice that almost shatters the complete trust of his lifemate, which causes him almost to lose her love and faith in him however the hero wins the trust of his lifemate by understanding her cultural differences and appreciating her choices and most importantly bending his domineering ways so that there can find a middle ground a necessary trait in a male and female relationship.

In conclusion, Dark Secret revealed the secret of Carpathian history not really discussed in the other prevous books and we actually go somewhere with the mysterous woman who the vampires are trying to find. In addition the author communicates to the reader that no male is perfect even a Carpathian male, yet with understanding and patience you will encounter the greatest gift of all A powerful love.
Christine Feehan's "Dark" series are some of my favorite books. I have read and reread them many times. The author introduces the characters in later books too so they become to feel like old friends. I am an avid and quick reader, but Ms. Feehan writes so complex that I have to slow down so as not to miss anything. I LOVE that! The books keep my interest, they take me longer to read, and the descriptions and plots are intriguing and interesting. I purchase the actual book in this series (rather than an iBook) so I can keep them and read them over and over.
Another great Book by Christina Feehan, I read this one a very long time ago and never purchased it for my kindle. So happy to have it in my collection now.
I was disappointed. The heroine fought and fought Rafael. It dragged on too long. Once he converted her and fought the vampire it moved quickly. Their love developed the intensity it deserved. At that point it became a story worthy of Christine Feehan.
THIS is one of her stories that binds the characters in a wonderful adventure. This Book also explained how the characters are truly unique. I look forward to reading more, and hoping, Vikirnoff finds his lifemate.

A nice change of pace. Instead of the lady falling for the man at the drop of a hat, we find Rafael struggling with fiery Colby. She is not the typical lifemate, fighting Rafael's advances with everything she has. The battle between these two left me so engrossed in the story that I couldn't stop reading. I loved it!!!
In 2-words I can describe here, there & everywhere, Christine Feehan's work SHE ROCKS!! This novel does just that. 😉 Its the story of Rafael del la Cruz (Mega Alpha Male!) and Colby Jensen (Strong Independent Woman!) Put the two together and what do you have? Are you familiar with Nitro + Glycerin? No problem because when you put together Nitro+Glycerin what you have is One BIG BOOM! She's no weeping willow and Rafael you wanna punch in the face. How on earth do you deal with a man who can wake up any dead hormones and bring them back life? This guy can rock your world with just a glance but don't underestimate Colby. This lady gives Rafael a run for his money. Do yourself a favor and either it or buy it. Absolutely No Disappointment GUARANTEED!!
