My love of this author’s work started with the book “Standing for Socks”. I read this when I was a Middle Grades judge for Cybils in 2009. I have read her Nerd Camp Books and loved them as well. I had no thoughts of not liking this book. As I thought, I loved it. Lindy Sachs, the main character of the book is a very lovable character. Lindy is like so many people, including myself, who struggled with math in school. When she comes down with mononucleosis and must stay home from school she is bored. Her parents hire a tutor for her so she doesn’t get further behind in her least favorite subject. She does a favor for her dad by helping him purchase some stock, since he can’t access the site from work. As he explains it to her she becomes interested enough that he fronts her one hundred dollars to buy and sell stock on her own. She becomes even more interested when she learns her new tutor used to be a trader. They have that in common. She begins to understand math better the more she works the market. Like others who have found that a little bit of money isn’t enough, Linday falls into that trap. One wrong move in the stock market, one bad and illegal decision has both her and her father in hot water.
I really can’t wait for my students to get their hands on this book. It is fun, funny, and full of enough adventure to keep you on the edge of your seat reading until the end. Once again I highly recommend this book to young and old alike.

I am fifteen and I couldn't believe what went down in this book. Read it now! I d demand you to!
I recommend this book for someone who likes chapter books like Holes are Harry Potter series best book ever P.S. get Nerd Camp are Socks!!!
I am 12 and thinking about starting to get into the stock market
This book taught me about it and was entertaining too
From Emma, 5th grader
This book was informative at times, yet it was very entertaining.I like how it wan't all stocks and trading. But I thought court was a little to much for a seventh grader. I liked how everything turned out alright. I really enjoyed it! )
My 9 year-old daughter love it. I'm buying a copy to gift to her teacher's classroom library.
Enjoyed this book. It was a very quick read and interesting story. Has me motivated to have my children learn more about the stock market.
To begin with, I have no knowledge of the stock market. So, after reading this book, I learned a tremendous amount--and in a very interesting way!
Lindy gets involved in e-trading, and learns a hard lesson about the risks when she starts to lose the money in her parents' account which she has secretly invested in stocks. The book isn't always written excitingly, but I sure was on pins and needles during the whole time she was worried about what was going to happen and how the market was going!! I was getting myself in a tizzle and a nervous wreck!!
Every chapter is named with a term referring to the stock market, so I looked them up and learned even more than the book taught me. This topic is a VERY unique one for children's books.
There are a few errors that didn't get caught by the proof-reader p.75, "smile faded" was printed as "smiled faded." On page 103 "She decided that she wanted to go" was printed as "She decided that she WANT to go..."
I thought this was a fantastic book. It is very decent; I was glad to see Lindy's parents are actually normal and keeping her from the evils of the world (such as a concert that was too old for her). I hope to read more by this author!!
